About

YES to Scottie Students is a citizen led organization.  Our belief is a top notch education system is at the center of a successful and thriving community.  Our group understands that in order to maintain a proper local education district, that system needs to be properly funded.

The Glasgow School Board is asking for voters to approve a 7.74 mill operating levy. The levy is a crucial investment that will protect the the programming and academic improvements for our children and community. The passage of the levy will provide the needed financial support for school operations to ensure that Glasgow remains a high-quality, stable and strong school district. The passage of the levy would equate to $10.45 annually (.87 monthly) per $100,000 or $20.90 per year on a $200,000  ($1.74 monthly) of appraised home value as determined by the county auditor.  The impact on your total tax bill for residents and landowners outside the city limits would be less than 1.2% increase.  Residents inside city limits and St. Marie would see <1% increase.

The school board is committed to reducing costs while keeping academics and a well-rounded education a priority. The May 7.74 mills levy is needed to maintain the academic improvements established over the past several years as well as to pay for day-to-day expenses, such as technology and classroom materials, ongoing costs for security, maintenance and utilities, busing as well as salaries and benefits. This levy is not for building new facilities.

Educating our children is not inexpensive. Outstanding schools create strong communities and improved home values. Our schools need funding in order to provide the opportunities and education necessary for our students to compete in the global economy. Your support is needed to continue our commitment to our community’s children.
